About the crossdressing thing: Shu Sha's brother was already doing the crossdressing and selling risque pics to guys in their school pretending they were of her, Ye Lin just happened to catch him in the act. My memory my be a bit hazy since it's been a while since I picked up the story, but the only time I remember him being involved in selling the pics/panties was because the fat underling got in trouble with the biggest goon in the school and that was the only way to placate him since Ye couldn't beat him in a fight.

Honestly, this starts off with pretty bad taste... the author tries to do the comic slap stick done in Japanese manga at the start, but the MC is an actual bullying victim and often looked down upon for being a criminal, so the slap stick just comes off as bad taste... either have him be misunderstood and bullied or make it slap stick, don't try to mix both, cause it kills both... though very early, they seem to be moving away from it.. so...

I've read around that the novel have the MC going racis often, I hope the manhua skips it or tone it down.
The MC telling to the girl to not behave like a japanese is more or less fine, even JP people recognize how hard is to just say no and praise the ones able to do it, we can see it in some manga how that kind of person behave like other Jp want to but are unable unless pushed because it was ingrained in them.

Long story short, she was money-hungry and fell out of love with him. She left when Lin was really young, which is why he has no real memories of her(in the WN, she talks to Ami on speaker with Lin secretly in the room instead of actually being there, so he never saw her). Also, her leaving is the cause of Lin's dad being like he is as it completely broke him(he's really smart).

I don't think if they've met face-to-face up to where I left off with the WN, but he's actually talked to her and she acknowledged that he is her son(she keeps extensive tabs on Ami's activities since she's still in America and Ami's in China. She found out soon that Lin was helping/hanging out with Ami and even tried to bribe him to stay away from her). She even calls up the ex-hubby and acts as cold as you'd expect to him.
