Oh great so just like every other cultivation revenge story the true plot has nothing to do with MCs goal and he's just roped into some conflict or danger because fuck and that becomes the main plot, isn't it enough to drag it out with him having to slowly level up?

@evilgrin no, the nine palaces were an ancient sect that ruled the Empyrean continent and were destroyed overnight. MC heard about them but he had no connection to them. MC just had his own group of friends but they all got attacked by the 36 main gods, and are still fighting to this day. MC will return thanks to his former waifu's sacrifice of her avatar for him.
