「メダリスト」はフィギュアスケートでメダルを目指す話なので、漫画の賞でもその名の通り、メダリストになる経験がしたいとずっと願っていました。 今回この大きな賞で一番の金メダルをいただけたことが、震えるほど嬉しいです。 ノミネート期間中、たくさんの応援をいただきました。 漫画を描くことしかできない私に、表彰台を目指す選手のような気持ちになれる、貴重な経験をさせてくださった読者の皆様、本当にありがとうございました。 今回1位になったからと言って、必ず未来でも同じように認められ続ける証明になるわけでは決してないと思いますが、 2022年のこの瞬間に「次にくる漫画」という名の賞をいただいた今感じている、何かがみなぎる気持ちと、これから起こる想像しきれないような変化の全てを「メダリスト」という作品の楽しさの味に変えていきたいです。 応援本当にありがとうございました！

なんとなくこの賞は若手の新人作家さんのためのものだというイメージがあったので、自分には縁がないだろうと我関せずのスタンスでいたのですが、突然耳元で「次に来る！」と叫ばれ目が覚めるような思いでいます。とても嬉しいです。投票してくださった方々ありがとうございました。 本当に次に来ると思っていいんでしょうか。来るといいな。「わたし…来ちゃった」と玄関先で言われるように、より一層がんばります！
