If this story is just going pure romance without actually attempting to mend relations and actually show how the family is starting to change, it feels pointless to even have the story be structured as it was. Could have just made her a pure commoner with zero attachment to royalty.

Yes, I was aware that this was romance from the get-go, so I was only planning on giving it a quick skim. But the way that the story was introduced from the first few chapters having the estranged family royal troupe, I got more interested in seeing how the family dynamics work. It's the hope of seeing possible chances for redemption or attempts to try and mend relations that made me continue reading the story.
