He’s an idiot, but to be fair, he might have at least been more competent if his father gave some heir training. At this point no one has been selected so the patriarch does it all himself - the children have at best learned through observation and running small sections of the business, but not the ins and outs of the whole operation. The problem with many parents is that they only show their kids how to do something, but not WHY, which is critical for understanding. Although he’s been shown as shortsighted and stupid, it’s not like people can automatically figure things out, especially if they’re not prone to using their heads in the first place.
Since he doesn’t actually have full authority, the subordinates should hold their ground and explain why he’s wrong. He won’t want to hear it, but that’s part of their job. He can try to fire them, but grandpa won’t let that happen, and he’ll look worse because he ignored advice 🤷🏻♀️
For those wondering why Shananet didn’t take over, I believe it was mentioned a long time ago that she refused to become heir even though her parents recognized her as having the aptitude. She knew it was a lot of work and declined to do it.
