The sad thing about all of this is that he may actually have a brain.
But because he is a egotistical proud fool, he makes judgements based on pride. If he ate a slice of humble pie, he might actually have a shot of making some good decisions.
Instead he is a bull who chases whatever red flag is waved in his face. Turning off his brain when the idea of a shortcut to get ahead of a "stupid brat" is suggested. He only hears what he wants to hear, and is intellectually lazy as a result.
If he were actually stupid, I don't thing gramps would've let him go as far as he has. Gramps was waiting to see if he would wise up and drop his egotistical vanity to make good decisions.
