TBH, it beg the question how Vieze ended that way. Lombardi family supposed to have best tutors, education and family head supposed to teach next head personally, indoctrinating (in a good sense) him with family values. Instead both his sons are meh, one was spineless before Tia forced some sense in him. Other is basically a traitor (for what? Lombardi are the wealthiest and most influential already!). And the only sensible is the daughter who married basically an insider. So much for family internal security.
It's an interesting question. It feels like most of the Lombardi children turned out poorly. Vieze is arrogant and talentless. Laurel is a cowardly yes-man to Vieze. Gallahan was meek and unassertive before Tia managed to reform him. And Shannet was content to be married and take a secondary role, until Tia talked her into challenging Vieze.

I suspect that as kids, they were taught that Vieze the oldest was certain to inherit. He felt entitled and didn't work hard, so he grew up into the idiot we know. The other three children grew up with his arrogance and learned to keep their heads down.

It's partly Lulac's fault for not recognizing how useless his kids were becoming, and partly their tutor's fault. Did Lulac even tutor them personally, or did he assume the tutor was on the ball?

To clarify further: Vieze (evil uncle) has two kids, Lorraine and Bellesac. Laurels (the uncle that sucks up to Vieze) has his own two kids, Astelieu (?) and Craney.

Vieze, his wife, and Bellesac are the ones who are the really shitty people, while Laurels’ family is mixed; Laurels and Astelieu are ass kissers and not nice because Vieze and Bellesac are not nice. Laurels’ wife isn’t bad though, and Craney is the black sheep of his family like Lorraine because he really likes Tia and is a good child.
Laurels has basically disappeared off the face of the plot, lmao. It can only be funnier if he's the second child in the family.

Me whenever Grandpa does some hood ass shit cause best girl Tia asked....

THAT'S WHY HES MY GOAT.

I said it before and I'll say it again.

If Grandpa is willing to tank the whole economy of this empire for his granddaughter, Imagine what he would do for Tia. He would take that Throne if it meant a better life for his dear Tia.

This also goes to show that he really does life his other grandkids, so true Grandpa shit right here.

And in the Novel Oh man.
his return to the other head familie... He just walks in like the true king he really is. No one steps to him.

Yeah, gramps seems like a good businessman but bad family head. Despite having four children, he was not able to properly raise a single successor.

He won't let his granddaughter marry scum, but how did he approach his children's marriages? It seems two of his children (Vieze and Shananet) were tricked into their marriages by conmen who sought to bring down Lombardi from within. How did he not catch on to that? Of the other two, one seems to have married normally (the other uncle, forget his name, he doesn't seem to have much relevance of any kind), and Tia's father had to kind of elope? He got his girlfriend pregnant but for some reason didn't marry her, leading to Tia being an illegitimate daughter looked down by everyone in the family.

I really want more background on Tia's mother, it doesn't seem like we know anything about her. I guess her death is part of why her father lost his drive, plus he was supposed to die when she was young too.
