Somehow this is exactly what I wanted to happen yet still unsatisfying. Are we really going to pretend like they don’t already like each other and acknowledge that they like each other? I get that “he’s supposed to be with someone else” but for someone who has changed so much what’s the issue in changing this? I will withhold being to put off by this right now but I hope they give a reason why they can’t be together and also make plans to bypass that.

I rolled my eyes at the mention of a contract marriage as I really hoped that this story at least had the decency to not do this. We already know that these kinds of couples always stay together in the end, so why introduce a tired cliche to "fix" an issue when the main couple could just get together romantically in a more natural way instead of going about it in some weird legal document. I'm sick and tired of 90% of these kinds of stories that have romance in them start with or eventually introduce contract relationships in them because the writer can't come up with an actual human reason as to why people would get together for whatever reason the plot demands from them.

I dont think "suppose to be with someone else" played a huge part in why they couldn't be together.

If I'm remembering correctly, there's an imperial law that makes it so that Tia cannot be both the empress and Lombardi matriarch at the same time. Going by their current plans, Perez will become the emperor. If Tia marries him and becomes empress, she would have to give up her position and goal as matriarch. She broke the engagement because she didnt want to give up her goal.

Spoiler: Why the law couldn't change

emperors could not change laws that personally? affected themselves (also why current & previous emperors could not have official concubines).

So Perez could not become emperor and change the law to let tia have both positions

Even if she wasnt the matriarch , there are potential trustworthy people left who can be her proxy.
i bet it will be the youngest Lombardi boy (The second son’s kid) who will fill that position since Fia likes the kid , saved him from bullying before while hes also quite studious and essentiallya good kid.The twins too busy playing knights to do anything else , Vieze’s kids one of them escaped the shitty fate they had in store for her and the other kid is a fuck up so definitely not ,they are sinking with SS Empress.
