Idk this is kinda complicated because they're both at fault in a way here (obviously one in a much more extreme way than the other but that's not the point).

The Duke is being extremely manipulative by holding the fact that they slept together while she was drunk against her so he can force her to marry him. While they did sleep together again after they were both sober, it's messed up to try chaining someone like that when they're clearly trying to back out. He's being creepy, pushy, and overall nothing he's doing would be considered cute or acceptable if he didn't look like a hot anime Draco Malfoy.

Ripley, on the other hand needs to accept the fact that almost nothing is going the way the novel was meant to and the world she's in is not going to be exactly the same. She doesn't need to reciprocate his feelings (although she low-key does), but she can't keep using the pretense that he's supposed to end up with another girl when both of them aren't into each other in the slightest.

Did that shift in plot happen because of her? Yes. Should she try to fix it? At this point, no. They've both deviated from the role they were given and fleshed themselves out as real people. And their relationship in the original plot was pointed out to be kinda toxic anyway, so I don't understand why she's so adamant on putting the original fl back into that suffocating situation.

I get that the Duke has that trauma™ of not being loved and Ripley is scared of the consequences of not sticking to the story™ (as well as having her own love trauma) causing them to act the way they do but it's just really oof.

TL;DR:
They're both at fault here for not communicating and pushing their own thoughts and ideals onto each other.

@Jelliellie I completely agree but honestly ripley might be even more at fault like the duke is really pushy and should let her do her own thing. But he could be alot more of a jerk. He's keeping the first night a secret instead of telling people because it would spread rumor's and make her look bad. I'm not saying it's ok but he could be much worse while ripley instead of talking about her problem with other resorted to just being a jerk coming up with different plots and causing trouble (and she gets alot worse with this ) and the duke is still being nice about it he takes everything she says seriously he takes her side he just doesn't want the one person that understood him to leave.

But honestly I enjoy that they both are making mistakes and being stupid they kind of feel one of the same.

@Shizukachan super nice guy except for his threat's to kill her and destroy her family with the Duke's power. I've kinda gone off him from a couple chapters ago when we learn he knew she was drunk and still did it pretty much rape so there's that.

@legendaryswordsman very true there is that; but considering for those times, he at least didn't use her and then not take responsibility or shame her publicly and ruin any future she could have or be the type to think he owns her and just uses her like a toy repeatedly and doesn't let her speak her mind. I like how the cold duke is okay with her childish plans and random outbursts, I like how much he's changed.

@ThePrincessOfTheRFA. @wulf69177 yeah I'd genuinely be a lot more concerned if Ripley was more concerned herself like this is more of a reflection of how I feel irl but if the victim is unbothered I'm not going to go out of my way to be also this is a shoujo story there are somethings I just over look but my annoyance with her has more to do with the constant attempts to manipulate not only the Duke but the og MC it comes across as if she doesn't actually see them as people but rather still as characters in a novel also also its a little more annoying because Ripley likes the Duke she's intentionally making it harder for herself like past traumas are hard to work through but you have to take responsibility when your decisions start negatively affecting others as well as yourself
