@Snickrot Considering that 3 of the 4 "relationships" you mentioned are over, I can't believe your claim that age gap relationships work out well in real life...

@DQAbel well, i am still friends with all of them..... so.... Yeah, they do. lol. people grow different over time. People change and that is ok. I mean, usually people go through several relationships in their life, no matter the age difference. Everyone I know has had multiple relationships in the past. It is called life. As for explanations on all of them:

First was a swinger and it was an open relationship. I wanted something more Monogamous and so we parted ways but stayed friends.
Second, It was a 5 year relationship but it ended due to various things and both of us wanting something different. Plus, she had some really bad drug abuse problems. I tried to be there for her for em, but after X number of relapses I had to call it quits. I couldn't really stand seeing someone I loved destroy their life. Later, she got mostly cleaned up and got her life around and she is my best friend now.
3rd: It was fun but our personalities and belief systems didn't really mesh well and we separated after a few months but stayed friends. I wanted a family and she didn't. Also we kinda lost touch with the whole covid thing but we send messages every few months.

So yeah. I would say it worked well. Life happens and it is messy. Nothing is perfect.

@Snickrot I don’t know it just feels weird if someone that’s 16 would date a 34 year old, they’re still a minor and imagining a 34 year old dating someone at such a stage in their life is really weird.
The thought that you were attracted to a child when you were at the age people usually have children is just disgusting to me in so many ways.

Why is there so much pedo discourse here. They aren't in a relationship and Sorbet pretty clearly doesn't think of her that way. It's just a girl with a crush on a guy.

@Rufrieva lol, she lied about her age. It was a long distance relationship. She lives overseas in asia and apparently it is pretty normal where she is at. I didn't know how old she actually was till I had flown in and met her parents. At that point, we had been in a relationship for 6 months and had genuine feelings for each other. Believe me, there was blind panic involved on my end. But after a google search on US laws, I found out I was in the clear and as you point out, I am in my 30s and looking to settle down. She had already said she was looking to settle down and start a family and so I said "fuck it, why not?" and continued on the relationship. Besides, she is traditional asian, so no sex before marriage. Thanks to covid, the wedding has been pushed back to a point where she will be 19. So meh.

I used to be a huge moral person in my early 20s. It just fades away as you get older and have more experience. The world goes from black and white to more grey the older i get and I end up caring less and less about what others think of my actions.

Edit: not saying there aren't problems with these sorts of relationships or that there are not predatory people. Just in my case, that is how it worked out. I just set my dating apps to look for 18-40 and younger women are pretty much the only ones who responded. So dunno.

Women seem to like guys who have their life sorted out and you usually have a stable good job and life organized by the time you hit 30s, so it seems a lot of younger ladies just look for older guys. Plus, they know that if they date an older guy, there is less likely a chance they are gonna get cheated on. Would i, a guy in his 30s, cheat on a younger lady and run the risk of ruining a great relationship? Fuck no. I am tired of that shit and want more then just sex at this point. Younger ladies have a lot of power in a relationship with older guys (usually, not talking about those billionaire elite people)

@Snickrot I can somewhat understand you better, thank you. As a woman myself I can somewhat understand her intentions of wanting to be with someone more mature for their age but I feel like the situation would be less weird if you started dating her when she was 19, nontheless I thank you once more for clearing up my view of the situation.
