Yeah I'll assume he might be "forced" to not use spells in CQC. Which is dumb cause if you can combine them obviously it's better then only 1 choice in a fight.Spellsword says "boo". I wonder how the faculty and his classmates will take his fighting style though.
It's not really a mock battle though?I get that in a real battle is stupid to not use magic and swordsmanship, but in a swordsmanship class mock battle where you're there to learn the sword is kinda scummy to use magic out of the blue. A magic swordsman will be stronger but if you're out of magic you still gotta know your shit around the sword without tricks.
So the mc cheated to win, realised opponent was stronger then him, as he's mc it will either be winning or light warning not to use magicSomeone bring gun into sword fight
Well I somewhat agree, but I still feel like beating the kid at his own game, using only the sword would have a better outcome. No one would complain about him being a mage if he could still kick ass solely with swordsmanship. It's not really a mock battle though?
Like the kid started beef with him because he uses both magic and swordmanship and the mage and sword division have bad blood. Mc would have had no problem just minding his own buisness but the kid wouldn't back off. A teacher intervened which who blamed the both of them and had them fight it out under both the pretense of a lesson and to get to stfu.
Him playing somewhat dirty by using is not a problem in my opinion, since this a no takes battle, that happend solely because of the brat. Let him eat his word y'know?
Small correction but the reason why he started the fight was because he though a mage was in the swordsman class.Like the kid started beef with him because he uses both magic and swordmanship and the mage and sword division have bad blood.
ah shit you right, but that makes my point even clearer because then that little shit should have expected magic give that he started beef with what he thought was a magicianSmall correction but the reason why he started the fight was because he though a mage was in the swordsman class.
I argue that him not using magic would be looking down on his opponent. He knew the boy was talented and he knew he wouldn't be able to win with his swordsmanship alone. But the dueli wasn't about self-improvement so there was no reason to take the loss. It's the second guy he met that day who is openly hostile to his face, and I bet that he didn't want to be looked down on or he was taking out his frustration on him.I think a lot of people are right. Winning with magic just proves he's refusing to dedicate himself to swordsmanship so he really is looking down on everyone else. If he really wants to honor his master he should struggle to improve rather than making excuses about geniuses and talent when he's still such a greenhorn.
Author just loves the protagonist too much and refuses to show him failing or even having a hard time. Even this ridiculous duel has to start out of the blue so he always looks infallible.
