So, what i'm thinking about is, this guy actually likes the girl but he's extremely insecure. He's a very boring dude with zero muscles. He's worried that if they start going out, she'd leave him for ricardo. So he's trying to stay relevant. But he couldn't think straight and so blurted out whatever came to his mind.

On the other hand, the girl is actually an alien from planet 420 and she wants to capture this dude for research purposes. And the only way to capture a. Dude completely is to make them date you. So she's thinking she's doing a very good job. Moreover, she's not human so she doesn't really know how humans work. Thus she isn't at all questioning the situation

OR, the dude actually has an illness(which was generated from a radioactive alien invasion) where he has to say the complete opposite of what he means whenever he's flustered/faced with the dating-type situation. And the girl's an alien or has been living under a rock so she doesn't understand how humans work so she isn't questioning this situation
