I'm going to spitball my thoughts, it's all over the place though

Started strong, but the melodrama overshadowed any hint of romance. Ended bittersweet but absolutely hollow. Seriously like from 23 or 25 onwards it was like a decline and went on for far too long. In end, the melodrama kept the story below sea level from how much it declined, if that makes sense. Towards 42 to 45 it picks up again but it fell so far that it feels lackluster and can never recover lost ground.

I love melodrama but this overstayed it's welcome and barely got any satisfaction whatsoever. I do appreciate the growth the two had but it felt hollow, like they gotten far in their lives but barely any true character development. Maybe that's thematic but a couple of more chapters of them navigating their relationship would have offset the admittedly crap show of drama the manga was subjected to.

It's a shame, I thought it would be good but it's really kinda disappointing imo. Guy wimped out on a kiss to end it on a stronger note too, could have showed that he really did miss her for that long. It's about lost opportunities sure, but it really felt like they were edging the reader on will-they won't-they, to the point it became agonizing to read.

My opinion is subjective at the end of the day, but come on, I can't be the only one who was disappointed with how the story turned out, right?

Thanks for translating all the chapters though, it was still quite the treat to read, even if the story arguably fell apart.

It was alright. The start was interesting. I liked the romance between the two leads up until the MC caught wind of the FeMC shit-talking him. The annoying thing about it is that I feel like the FeMC had no agency in repairing the relationship. She didn't try to talk to people who he knew nor did she try to really disway the class from shit-talking him.
That isn't to say the MC was blameless. This is as he completely blanked her after both his best friend and her childhoodfriend (who stopped the rumormill) told him to talk to her.
The lead up the ending was a bit too bitter for a sweet end to feel satisfying.

I honestly don't get why people blame the mc at all , yes he avoided her ,but she was the one who badmouthed him before her friends , learned he knew about it and didn't do anything about , instead all the friends and mc solved her problem for her . From my pov , every decision the mc took seems realistic and sensible for a normal person. Hearing people take about you behind your back is horrible experience for anyone , everyone telling him , it's not her intentions is ridiculous , intentions be damned when you openly put down another person especially someone you say you love. If she can't openly defend atleast his character, then what's the point of her being in love at all , she feels so superficial in her love

Well, you said almost all I wanted to say.
The fun in the manga was in the interaction between the two, and then after the misunderstanding in ch 23 they just...stopped? And then they don't really interact until the end of the manga after another 22 chapters? I don't even know what to say.

Anyway thanks for dropping all the chapters.

Thank you for the mega uploading of the second half of this series all in one day. Definitely spent the past 2 and a half hours binging this whole series, totally worth it!

I have no clue what it is but I seriously despised the FMC the entire time, and i’m so mad that they ended up together. She does not deserve bro.

I initially had a lot of words to express my distaste for all the criticisms on how the MC acted.

I'll just state a few things they might have forgotten about:

Iijima is still just a kid.
This is his very first feelings of love.
He does not have high self-esteem, and justifiably so.
He is not that good looking.
Kitaoka is the prettiest in their class.
There were rumors about her playing with men's feelings before.
Despite all other possible interpretations, the things Iijima overheard from Kitaoka herself reinforces above point.

Given all those points above, it boggles my mind how people can criticize how Iijima acted.

ALSO:
I just realized the title is phrased a bit awkardly.
I was Supposed to Never Fall in Love with You.

Shouldn't it be:
I was Never Supposed to Fall in Love with You.

Thx you so much for this mass release, you saved us from this bitter arch. Kitaoka should try harder if she really care, I'll say Kitaoka 60% and MC 40% at fault, and i am being generous to her.

What a letdown of ending. Feels rather forced, if you ask me.

This was a rough read on the back end, but I still came out more positive than sour at the finish, and I think it's almost entirely due to being able to read it all in one go. If I was forced to wait between uploads during some of the later chapters I would have 100% dropped this manga.

Thanks for the chapters.
