So, where is this on the timeline? Given the lack of a hole I assume before the first arc, but she seemed rather new to the job there, and she was still under Matsuoka there. Here it's implied she was under him some time in the past but isn't anymore, which would mean it should take place after the Perforator incident, but it obviously doesn't. She also seems a lot more experienced and involved than in the anime.

@Pamasich No this is all after the events of the anime. the Acting chief is present, though I have no clue why Hondomachi is still out there doing field analyst work.

@gzyang2006 They work shifts. Narihisago mentions it in the anime. So Hondomachi probably does field analyst work when she's not well diving.

@shahzehan It's still rather strange that they'd risk one of their two remaining brilliant detectives, especially considering how they don't seem to have a system in place to replace them properly.

I can only assume the somewhat illogical character roles are to avoid spoiling the ending too much before it airs, as (without me looking into it too deep) this manga seems to have been going for at least a couple weeks now but the anime's ending is like 3 days old.
