I'm not sure, but I THINK the context should be something like, "There are a lot of places near our houses, huh?"

Could be wrong, but when I read it, all I could think of was demonic anthropomorphic houses waiting for an evil real estate agent to deliver up some fresh meat in the form of home buyers.
