What does "Narou" mean?
Shōsetsuka ni Narō (Let's Be A Novelist) is a Japanese website where anyone can post their own web novels - think Archive Of Our Own, but for more original works. A large amount of light novels started out there.

Of course, being a site where anyone can post web novels, there are no real filters.

Does it seems like MC just don't give a fuck about anything? I mean it's weird that he's so lax about the whole thing that makes one wonder if he's alright in the head.

And why didn't he help the elf girl?
Yo, just wanted to add that the reason he can't help the elf girl is cause she has a slave collar just like Atie and Mr. Arsonist could have her collar kill her immediately for 'abandoning him'.
The Slave Collars are sealed in the "owner's blood" and since Mr. Arsonist bought the elf there's nothing Harold can do.

This is hands down one of the weirdest manga I've ever read... and not in a good way.

Im glad Im not the only one weirded out by the MC. Having read about this "non-con" thing (had to google it what it actually is) I have enough reason to drop it. Bye folks. :)

Help how? He doesn't know how to remove a salve collar.

He’s kinda a horrible person.

Remember when his solution to that kid dying in his arms was to bury him in secret and tell his grief-crazed mother that he never saw the kid at all, so she’ll spend the rest of her life searching in vain for her missing son?
In DnD, that would give you Chaotic or Evil alignment points.

Arsonist-san is unconscious so maybe there's a way but that's not where the author wanted to go with the story.

Unrelated: Elf-san can defend herself or assist her master but she just stands there through the whole thing.

Just call it syosetu, since that's the actual website and what people are most likely to recognize or be able to find when searching the term.

No it wouldn't, because the intent was to save the mother from the grief of the confirmation of her son's death, rather than the vain hope that he might still be alive and just ran off on an adventure for medicine for his dad, like he said he was going to do when he was leaving. The fact that so many of y'all don't understand that is why he didn't tell her at its core is pretty worrying in terms of your understanding of this series, too; given multiple people keep saying he should have freed the elf shows that they completely forgot about (or never understood) how the slave collars work, too.
