What kind of severe brain damage is required to forgot months, and potentially years of something that happened less than a decade ago?
And how is he still able to talk after having such severe damage to his brain?

Or is this the most idiotic and unbelievable trope ever?

I can't read a story that assumes a person just "doesn't remember" a gigantic chunk of their life, and the people they interacted with; maybe that he remembers and is  lying; that iI an believe.
But just randomly "forgot" about multiple interactions, and then has completely lukewarm feeling about three beautiful women appearing and trying to fuck him?

I just can't suspend my disbelief that far.

Not without him having brain damage to the point that he can't walk and talk.
