Either of those could be reasonable.

Setting Things Straight With Brats has an example of a girl causing the death of her crush (?) and her aftermath. Another example from the series but I don't know if he was her crush. (This is a good manga of mostly 1 and 2 pagers where you see brats, especially tsunderes, getting what they deserve.)
