No break next week.
In two weeks, volume 9 comes out, which will actually include chapter 69 (which isn't out yet) as well. Not sure if it's gonna be a first/second halves release over the next two weeks or if next week will be a slightly long one with a break on the volume release week, but either way.

The author's really good at finding the point of "this is getting so depressing I'm not sure I want to continue" and then having a character decide "Screw that we're getting a happy ending even if I have to drag this story there kicking and screaming"

Well... Cleo clearly is important and unique, considering how rare natural healing magic is, him having it already shows some of the fate in store for him.

If I remember right... Cleo's element is wind, maybe if he enhances his element, he can "blow away" Kohaku's death.

Im sure her subordinate whos looking for her knows whats up
Well since next chapter should end the volume, and most volumes end on a big "ooh!" point, I feel like him showing up is on the list of possible candidates for that "ooh!"

She can't keep getting away with this!
Just a heads up, while anything's certainly possible since Nanao-sensei doesn't do public appearances, based on comments made in the past and a rather masculine-coded author avatar, he's probably a man.

Cleo built of something different alright. So many points in this arc to just give into despair and still he finds a way to persist and maintain hope. I don't want this to be foolish hope but it's so hard to gauge where this thing wants to go.
