Asa was not really considerate in this chapter. I was interested in knowing Makio's romance but not through these conversations. Glad they are still friends though.

Thanks for the chapter :)

He probably tried to "straighten her up for her own good" and she probably felt she wasn't good enough for him, on some level. Sounds like a real classic.

Anyway, great chapter. So much information about lunch boxes ...
... I'd kill myself before bothering with something as tedious as cooking every morning; or every evening for the next friggin' day. ^^

You could look at things from a different angle and say the same about Makio and ex-boyfriend who were talking about mom's lunchboxes in front of a young girl who just lost her parents.

My personal rule: Time spent preparing food should be equal or less than time taken to consume food.
So basically, I'm stuck with avocado and sardine/tuna/salmon salad for the rest of my life. :-\

Too much lunchboxes talk for one chapter, yeah... And I guess friction like this is necessary to know your boundaries.
I'm very very sure the sister was just jealous... like "Here I am studying hard to get a decent job meanwhile my sis is wasting her time writing stupid things!!"

Great chapter. The tone of the whole thing feels very “real” to me. I remember always feeling excited to be included in adult conversations around that age. Looking back, I’m sure I came off overly-enthusiastic like that as well.

Asa is adorable in this one; it’s good to see her act her age and be a little carefree for a change.

This is actually a food manga with plot.

I can relate with Makio, as my sister can also be an overbearing person prone to giving out unconstructive, harsh criticisms. Sad they never made up before they died, "Makio-chan" makes me think the older sister at least thought of her in a fond manner, even if she never expressed it properly.

I didn't know how common family issues are. I just exist in mine, I show up to Christmas and stuff, and I spend time with my Mom, but that's it.

they really do take for granted how calm asa is all the time, and talk about nostalgic memories with parents like it's nothing. probably the only thing i dislike about this manga
