Technically, Emily should be fine to head off alone as they would have gotten a general idea of the direction and distance of the roar, or should have (though it does beg the question of why Lily ran in that direction...). She's also heading towards the teacher who's supposed to be nearby. If the teacher is in that general direction, it's unlikely that she would encounter it along the way. Of course, they're probably just not thinking about that anyway.

I doubt Lily was nearly as tired as she makes it seem. If she were to push herself, they'd get the task done and she'd at most have blisters and be out of breath. More than enough room to work with if you have an adrenaline rush. Good thing adrenaline came with panic so she could run off in the direction she shouldn't.

Well, she should thank the monster after she gets rid of it. She's just been handed on a platter the golden chance to save the people who had been down on her and be the heroine, fending off her ill fate by a little more. Dunno why so many people think she shouldn't save them; from a practical, Machiavelli standpoint getting to be the saviour is the perfect situation, and even aside from that--so OK, they're dim and annoying and were sniping at her, but where would we be if we handed schoolkids the death sentence for being annoying little twits? It'd solve the overpopulation problem, that's for sure.
