Several speech bubbles are borderline gibberish, and there's zero coherency or consistency throughout. We can only understand the story progression because we have prior knowledge from earlier chapters, so we can fill in the blanks.

However, what you so clearly fail to grasp in your soapbox speech of "well it's free so shut the fuck up" is that if a reader has to spend considerable effort trying to piece together story and context, your translation has failed to do what it's intended. We can give passes to solo scanlators dumping MTL chapters because they're doing it quick, very very rarely for any profit, and most if not all the time they'll admit that the quality is going to be subpar as a result. What's being dumped here is a minimal effort release designed to draw eyes to their website to generate ad revenue; they aren't doing it for the readers or the series.

And yes, I can complain about these scanlations being poor quality, and yes I have worked with a scanlation team in the past. So do yourself a favor and stop trying to white-knight a group who, from their chapter release history, obviously isn't interested in keeping any of their series alive.
I could care less about this group, they have not demonstrated anything noteworthy worth my time.

I'm not here to defend a bottom of the barrel job that just barely scrapes by as readable. Maybe if the group was less obnoxious about their water mark(which almost certainly leads to a shitty website riddled in ads) and they genuinely tried their best and solicited feedback trying to improve then maybe, maaayyybee. (Or they were a solo trying the best with what they have like you mentioned)

No issues with the people who commented early on how crappy the translation was, and stopped reading.

My point was simply that even though it isn't a good job, it still scrapes by as readable. Good enough that you, me, and everyone else commenting here decided to actually read 12 chapters worth.

And that the readers here complaining this far in are being a bunch of whiny, lazy, entitled children complaining about something they get and continued to consume for free without lifting a finger and couldn't be bothered to do/support anything about themselves. Without a whimper of a ounce of gratitude for getting something for actually nothing.

If someone actually did put in effort to continue this series Reaper hasn't cared about for half a year(and never indicated they would continue), or you actually paid for this in any capacity have at this group(any actual skin in the game), complain to your hearts content.

Or, people could be grateful for the translation and still critique it for being bad and request the group do better, perhaps even support them in doing so.

There is a phrase that applies here, beggars can't be choosers.

The fact remains that whatever motives this person or group had for translating this series, they still put more time and effort(however little) into it than anyone here combined. Their "profit driven low effort" selves, with how little they cared about this series still cared more than anyone here, regardless whether they continue it or not.

You worked with scanlation in the past? Awesome, thanks for your work on that series, I genuinely mean it!

But that has nothing to do with this series. Why didn't you use your experience and step up to start translating this or organize people to grab chapters, clean, translate, proofread, typeset, etc? Or go to the comments of last Reaper chapter posted and solicit donations to reaper scans or other scanlators to get new chapters with quality translations? Or support the author by reading the official English translation?

If it is such a considerable effort to piece together the story and context with this lacking translation and you are here 12 chapters later, why not plop that correct understanding into your own version you release that is better than this one?

You know what I and normal people do with really shit free translations? The same thing we do when eating terrible free food. We stop reading/eating(spit it out), complain about how terrible it is, and walk away and go find something else to eat. Maybe coming back if someone else offers a better quality version of that dish, or buying it from a place that actually makes it right.

If you are being served a crap sandwich you don't keep taking bites and complain after finishing the entire plate and licking your fingers.

I won't lie I didn't even read half of what you posted because mate that's a fucking wall and a half and no one wants to read that much nonsense.

But since you're out here assuming, I never even finished their first chapter release, hell I never finished the first few pages of it because it was such utter garbage. I came here to post because that's where all the comments were at the time.

As for the "well gee why don't you do it yourself" comment, for the same reason I stopped scanlating. I have my own hobbies, scanlating isn't one of them. I spend enough time at my computer as it is and I don't need to add more things to it.

And finally, beggars can be choosers when they're presented with options. If one option is such horrid filth that it deserves to be called out, then anyone reading absolutely has the right to do so. Saying something as tone-deaf as "you don't deserve to call out free translations" is how we continue to get groups like these.

As I said before, I don't even have access to the raws, so I take this, in fact I'm very happy that I was able to read it again when I was completely given up and specially with this, with no heavy cliffhanger, some laughs, fights and plot, I'm satisfied, I think the series deserves more love but for now thank you for bringing it up again from oblivion, perhaps even more groups would be interested, who knows! but despite the harsh complains, anything is better than never seeing it again (and yes you can lie to yourself and pretend that bad translation is worse than nothing but no! even if the translation is bad, just watching it raw material is better than being forgotten).
:aquadrink:I agree with some of chairlight sentiment, minutes after this whole batch was uploaded someone went to the last chapter to say "I'm dropping this" Bitch even if you read it or not IT WAS FUCKING DROPPED FOR A YEAR LMAO like there was absolutely no way to read it in any capacity and no amount of people walking away from it was going to change that.

EDIT: OH WAIT HOLD UP?! We have official English translation at Tapas? well that changes everything! there's hope to read it all after all and they just catch up with Reapers scans, now is a matter of patience (And paying of course) https://tapas.io/series/im-quitting-the-heros-party/info

My issue is that there’s a certain level of readability needed to make it better than just outright reading raws without understanding them. MTL is always shaky in logic and accuracy. But it’s always spelled correctly, and almost everyone makes the effort to fix the egregious issues. This isn’t true here. Spelling mistakes everywhere, broken grammar, so on so forth. I have severe ADHD, and I physically cannot focus on this, even if the information is theoretically there, because the writing is just that distracting. I’ve used straight OCR in the past, and that should be your bare minimum(or rather you should surpass that, because otherwise there’s not much reason to do it in the first place) for any upload: if it’s illegible, what even is the point of uploading.
