Read again, fat, blond ugly bastard was a impostor, he killed his parents and his adopted brother to get the token and keep the silence, then after joining the family started istantly to abuse its power, poisoned the patriarch and put down any hostile, he made sex slaves of the female members of the family he was totally unrelated to.
Author really made clear that this old mage is NOT a hero, killed everybody and didn't bother to free the imprisoned girls.
Fat ugly bastard was pure greed incarnated, until the last moment he didn't realize that his end is out of just a bit of karma for his life actions, begged to be spared when still trying to only give the minimum of -someone else- properties and keep his own stuff.
Someone will probably feel bad for the fallen noble family, don't, they were all fine with the bastard actions, he killed who he suspected would wnder if he is the real heir or denounce him to the law , and kept the rest, no way he was managing all his shadow business alone.

Ohhh that makes a lot more sense. The paneling and dialogue was really confusing for me, but now that you have laid it out like this I think I finally understand the story of this chapter. Thank you for the clarification!

Who know he is not a savior or even a anti-hero bt a villain in that world.
If the book had asked for a saint to be sacrificied he would have hunt for one.
He didn't save the girls because he didn't care about anything but his objective and only had to kill witnesses, destroying the mansion and killing them was a consequence.

Who know he is not a savior or even a anti-hero bt a villain in that world.
If the book had asked for a saint to be sacrificied he would have hunt for one.
He didn't save the girls because he didn't care about anything but his objective and only had to kill witnesses, destroying the mansion and killing them was a consequence.

Although I do agree that wilde was doing this for his objective and nothing more, I can't help but feel you all are only seeing this from a negative point and not the clearly illustrate positives. When those female slaves where shown notice the smile of relief on the older ones face as the flames approached. The way I see it after everything that happen to them death was a was at putting all that to rest. They were purified and freed by the flames rather than simple murdered. You have to look at it this way, even if they were kept alive, they have literally nothing left in that world. everything was taken from them, Their dignity, status, money, even their minds were broken. Sometimes the best way to help people is to let them go to their next life especially those who have nothing left in the hell of a world their in, worst case you let them live they get captured by some one else and hell repeats itself. Best case they mange to use what has already been taken to survive either way it's a living hell that I think they rather avoid all together which why I believe this situation isn't one where simply freeing them would suffice. Take it with a grain of salt my friends, I'm sure they accepted their fate with a smile for that reason.

eh I disagree nokin on the surface at least does not seem to be a super bad place. I am sure there are ways to have them appear on the street and get them taken care of by idk the police or tower of justice or smth. Also sorry man but wang erde is evil af. Like bro is not a good guy. I personally am just annoyed at people being portrayed as the good guys in chinese manhuas while they commit awefull things. Thats one of my main issues.
