Well, maybe one day he’ll be assured in his gender identity and not give a shit what other people think and do for themselves (within reason). Cute end.
And so, the message is that external validation is not the only thing you should be relying on to determine your gender expression - instead, you should do as you wish and be self-assured in what you wish to wear, whether it be staying masculine or being feminine or however else.
It was possible to sense that the story was turning into a slice of life loop that would never be resolved, perhaps that is why the author abandoned it (if not the editors forced to "cancel" it ... impossible to know)
