Just like Yuu thought, Hikari will be fine. He obviously knows her better than majority of the readers.

WN has like %60 more content in it btw. No idea why Yom ignored it and just draw like 2 paragraphs worth. People will miss the part where Hikari does everything she can to avoid meeting Yuu but still expects him to come find her first while bunkering up in her room. Which is what Yami wanted to happen as well. Ironic.

Also, "alone at the rock bottom" lol. What a drama queen. She is neither alone nor at rock bottom. Truly a shoujo heroine of our time.

People keep calling Yuu passive but you've gotta remember that he was actively looking for Yami during the 2 week period she ghosted him and he was the active one during the cultural festival as it was him inviting her to a confession spot. What happened during both of those times? He loses out. Yami completely cuts contact and then Yami messes with his emotions just before he can confess.

She's waiting for him to do something & if she really waits, she'll probably be in college by the time he does something given how wishy washy he is (or just commits to Yami..). I know this switched from being bi-weekly to monthly & I'm just a reader but waiting a month for 7 pages is not the most ideal example of "equivalent exchange". Thanks for the translations.
Equivalent exchange? Did you pay to read the chapter?

Thanks for the chapter.
Im not sure why people are so suprised that hikari is passive this chapter. While it mightve been different in the past, basically throughout the manga weve seen that hikari and yuu are about as active and passive as each other, and hikari is even known to throw tantrums and not try to talk about them while yuu does his best to apologize(usually while doing nothing wrong, tho in this case that doesnt apply). This feels totally in character for what the manga established, no?

I agree. Because of the 3rd volume, some people seem to have started thinking that Hikari is always proactive and never backs out. But she did have a number of these "please read my mind already" episodes in first 20 chapters.

Is this a waiting game for them?
For them and for us as well. They wait for each other to take a step, we wait for a month for a truncated chapter.
Also meant to say I appreciate you Inari pfp.

I think that post was about switching from biweekly to monthly release but with longer chapters. And the previous one was indeed one of the longest chapters (only ch 40 was longer). But now we went from 20 pages to 7 pages despite the novel version having important thoughts and details not present in the manga version.

An alternative read on Hikari this chapter- she's confused and upset, doesn't know what to do, so she's not doing anything yet. It's not the same as running away or a pattern of avoidance. In her confusion she's having emotional whiplash, from anger to empathy to mistrust to shame. Until she has sufficient time to process it, or external factors (like learning more about the context) guide her, I think she's right to wait. Going into a conflict this emotionally loaded is asking for trouble.

I have just the opposite question. Where exactly Hikari was proactive for once in the entire series? The most near was her confrontation with Yami in chapter 41, and even there, and this chapter confirmed it, she was not looking for Yami, she encountered Aya literally just for bad luck in an already very awful day
Just with re-read the chapter you will see how almost all the dialogue is carried by Kamiya, I mean, Ayami, and her guiltyness feeling.
But, IMO, Haru and Yuki taked more the lead in the past chapter, than Hikari in the entire series.

At least Hikari being so ridicuously passive would explain very well how the passive of Yuu managed to hide her the secret of his relationship with Ayami while he seems very disposed to talk about "Yami-senpai" to the most minimum pression.

After Hikari witnessed Yami kissing Yuu she ran off and waited in a hallway near the gym.
She witnessed the slap too, and never thinks awarely in the slap, even if, to be fair, she thinks several times this is probably a misunderstanding, but like Eriri before her, Hikari chooses being egoist instead ask Yuu for explanations.
Yuu assumed Hikari was upset because he had promised to hang out with her after her shift so he apologized and said his phone died. That's obviously a lie since Hikari's text show they were read earlier by Yuu.
Yes, this is the reason why I praise he is apologizing in his LINE messages. He definitely screwed up here and damaged Hikari trust on him.
This causes Hikari to start doubting Yuu in addition to what she saw in the classroom.

Later, during Yuu's confession he mentions he's always loved Hikari - based on what Hikari saw earlier, she took this as, maybe not an outright lie but a half-truth. It's this stuff that she's calling out when she calls him a liar.
To be fair, is not easy explain how you entered in a relationship with other girl who literally swore make you forget your previous crush. This is the reason why is so important when Yami criticizes Hikari because without her relationship with Yuu, Hikari never would have noticed him as a boy, and Hikari didn´t deny it.
And of course, this is why Seki calls all this "accidental two-timing". Accidental polygamy where literally Yuu´s (still) theoretical girlfriend gave permission to her best friend to date him.
This is the point where Hikari had to realize -and only unawarely she did- Yami already knew about her... and already HATED her before their first meeting. Even Haru and Yuki realized how Yami attitude changed when she discovered Hikari was the Yuu childhood friend she hates so much.
She's standing there in front of him thinking about confessing and then she flashes back to Yuu and Yami kissing and decides not to. It's not that she was a coward about it, she had legit reasons to abort the confession plan.
She had legit reasons, true. That doesn´t change she chose the worst moment ever to abort the confession plan -and later to literally insult and PUNCH Yuu instead ask calmly for an explanation in a moment where he seemed disposed to talk and even gave some hints about Yami if you read carefully-, and she, in retrospective, should have accept the idea of Yuu of returning to home instead force him to going to dance.
Equal as him, when Hikari tries to be proactive, she screws up. So, she is a coward who become afraid in the truth moment. In comparison, Yuu at least acts with more common sense in this kind of unexpected but decisive moments.
In the novelization it goes further with her wondering what was going on with her best friend and her crush. It makes sense that she'd want to talk to Yami first before doing anything but she's interrupted by Yuu confessing to her.
In that case, again, she had to say it clearly to Yuu instead carrying him to the gym and create the situation for a confession. Even more when Hikari bloasts about she being open and disposen to listen. Also, re-reading the novelization, she didn´t seem really looked Yami. She just encountered Yami in her classroom for casualty.

So, you are basically saying Yuu is right in don´t pressure her more and give her time to process everything and decides to take the lead by herself, not?
People will miss the part where Hikari does everything she can to avoid meeting Yuu but still expects him to come find her first while bunkering up in her room. Which is what Yami wanted to happen as well. Ironic.
Even worse because Yami knew very well what she was doing and even she desires actively Yuu won´t make more difficult her decision to ghost and break with him.
In Ayami case, in her role of Expy from Kazusa and Kamiya, we have a character who takes a brain decision but her heart is in conflict with her brain. And she knows it very well.
Hikari is just a foolish girl who unironically is expecting Yuu makes that stupid plan of Haruki literally jumping to the window of Music Room 2 to talk with Kazusa to any price, almost dying in the process.
