Desperately waiting for either of these characters to become even slightly likeable. So far it seems like the author is assuming that for some reason having shitty parents and not getting into a good school are worthy enough plights to justify sympathizing with genuine scumbag human beings who would betray those closest to them for sex. Sorry dude but I actually don't give a fuck and think they should both die.

I like it. The only problem is that it’s too long. Too long for a backstory within an arc. This backstory is taking/took four chapters, while they’ll all in the middle of a festival. Would’ve been better if it went back and forth with the flash back.

I think a lot of folks are pretty unhappy w/ this arc, but I now really wanna read the gender flipped version of this b/c I think that's actually rare.

Female lead chasing after/trying to be equal to the guy who she doesn't think she's good enough for and fails and sleeps w/ the virgin bad boy w/ a messy home life she just met (and the bad boy becomes male leads best friend) and they break up and...

like if this was a shoujo, the bad boy would almost def be a player and would probably be end game (eta which I guess w/o the sex is the plot of Hana Yori Dango)

I think the author sees THIS as the main plot, possibly always did from the start.

And everything we saw before may have just been the intro to this reveal, like how Puella Madoka Magica tried to play itself off as a cutesy magical girl show at the beginning, only to then reveal it's true nature when Mami dies getting her head bitten off

Hikari may have just been the "Mami" of this story.

Unfortunately I got spoiled about the show (not the scene, but the fact that the show is unique) before I watched it, so I can't compare Madoka with this.

Maybe they could've introduced the FMC (the bad one) earlier, not as a "Friend C" but potential FMC, to lessen the shock. Anyways, I hope the flashback ends soon. I get the point 1-2 chapters ago.
