I think I understand the problem I have here. The character designs themselves are so bland that it feels like a normal streamer setup, even with the explanation at the start. The premise is cute but the art isn't doing it for me.

It's extremely lazy to not have separate designs for the IRL and VTuber version of the chars, especially when the supposed VTuber design just looks like a normal person

Pekomama is popular, sure, but Pekora is regularly the 1st or 2nd most popular female streamer in the world, including non-vtubers, so calling Pekomama more popular (except as a joke) is a bit much.
