Yeah they are famous for doing that. Usually they release new chapter based on Patreon vote from what I've heard but when someone "sniped" their project they will release one to try and show dominance. Don't be discouraged and just release yours. They will stop eventually.

You can see this example in chapter 6 in this very manga.
Where they did not release anything for months. And someone else did chapter 6, and they immediately upload their own version 1 day after lol.

Knowing them they'll probably keep releasing for 3-4 chapters then back to hoarding. And tbf a good proofread MTL is just as good as a real TL, as long as you got a nuance right.
