I swear I had your locality pegged after the first paragraph of your rant.
Once you're on the net a certain amount of time and don't just read mangas the problems of the US education system will crop up here and there.
I must say the shortening of "X are" to "x're" and their pronounciations are quite natural - if one considers where the words' origin is.
I always wince a little whenever I have to read your where you're should have been placed. But I also have a feeling that correct spelling and a general lack of quality control are a problem of the LHTranslation team. They, like a few others, appear to go the chinese way: quantity instead of quality.

Unfortunately a lot of the groups that did great work a few years ago have died out and been replaced by mediocre groups whose command of the english language appears to be sub-par.

@CountryMage Ah! I can naturally pronounce it both ways.... still, both of them though. I have never given pronunciation this much thought before, nor been so conscious of it.
Though, I'll be honest. When speaking, I avoid contractions except in cases where the sentence otherwise wouldn't make sense (which I have just learned is due to something called Subject-Auxiliary Inversion).
That said, I don't(think I) really process sentences until I finish reading them. That is, not until I have enough context to give it a tone. With manga and decent scanlators, the font often gives this. But I also enjoy novels from time to time, so the habit remains. Honestly, reading is a subconscious process for me (normally, there are plenty of scanlators that give me a hard time even when I break down into consciously reading though), so I have no clue what my mind is actually doing.

Just like your mind automatically removes doubles of the near meaningless word 'the', these levels of mistakes are skipped over for me.

Though, this habit actually does become problematic for novels. There have been many times where I was fully engrossed in the world the novel painted, and then time just stopped.... I shut my IRL eyes and now I have to struggle to figure out how to control my actual body to open them. This usually takes about 1-2 minutes. It's a rare event though, only exceptionally interesting scenes do this to me.... Actually, I'm curious if anyone else has this happen to them. I'll ask in the forums

I agree with @Kaarme, Reene shouldn't have accepted so easily for no reason at all. She should have acted like the first time she met the prince, refused the thing that chained her up but brought nothing of real use to her.

yes how typical... the evil church. High ranking clergy and similar religious phonies are really just power hungry parasites
