>Focus it around elementary-school girls

Surprised this is here. Not even Batoto would host this one.

Heh, Maybe it will be better if the author decided to start the story from little girl until maturity

@Nami Not sure if "not even batoto" is really a good comparison, since batoto did ban many things for no reason but left others that were worse, and this site even has the option to upload hentai.

His first manga was a loli-centered series. Not to mention it's the other way around. OOI Masakazu is known for his lolis series, so Okusan is actually the one manga that is kinda different from the kind of content he usually does. (though he did manage to put lolis in it too because he just can)

Got lost here by way of Okusan and remembered how great this manga was, with the exception of the last volume tone shift.

Before that, though, it's probably one of the funniest manga I've ever read. For something that makes you cringe at all the first grader underwear shots -- she's actually a high school boy I swear officer -- it's incredibly funny and surprisingly heartwarming, with a remarkable grasp on how actual children behave and view the world. The MC especially is charismatic, hilarious, and thoroughly likeable. It's legit...aside from the underwear shots, that is.

Not sure why people find this offensive? It's more of a comedy than anything else. In fact there's been quite a few manga/anime that have been released in 2018/2019 that share many tropes to this.

This manga started great but towards the end it became kinda stupid.
The alien girl was a terrible addition.

This series has one of the worst ending I saw. Nothing get resolved, things get teased and never solved, in fact, they don't even care about the massive plot holes. Could it be covid ?
yeah right she has fund for multiple high tech but can't rent a single room. Talk about being cliche. That and the fact we simply abandoned the plot of the smaller girls and missed the whole fucking tone in the last volume. It's horrendous. The series started so strong and it died at the last volumes.

I was craving for another 'going back to being a kid' nostalgia focused show after watching Onimai - and by chance I found this. I haven't read Onimai's manga yet so all of my comparisons are done to the anime S1 - which might not be fair. I'm writting this because I feel like the comments here are not making this show the justice it deserves.

This manga has an utterly HUGE amount of loli fan service - right from the start - which is why most people would never give this a chance. Its nothing short of a miracle that this was allowed to be published to begin with. But if you can get past this aspect of the show and the overused silly, repetitive jokes and nonsensical fillers - then you probably won't regret giving it a try.

Where this show surpasses Onimai (anime):
  • MC has a goal which drives the romance aspect of this manga.
  • The romance is handled well by turning it into the main cause for most of the MC's anguish.
  • MC is no pushover and doesn't act like an introverted kid the entirity of the show - he suffers from existencial crisis at points and often lets his mind be affected by his body but many times he acts with the maturity you would expect from someone who is actually older and stuck in a child's body.
  • (Adding to the bullet point above) He is not afraid to show his maturity and often reveals his wisdom with answers most kids that age wouldn't know and mature attitudes that kids simply do not have.
  • He is constantly confronted with the choice of revealing himself to his family and the mental burden that comes with the choice of not doing so is very well portrayed - same with his crush.
  • The fact MC got turned into a first grader (instead of a middle schooler) allowed the author more headroom for the nostalgia factor of the show.

Where it fails apart:
  • Too much loli fanservice.
  • Too many silly, repetitive jokes (most of which are perverted in nature).
  • Many nonsensical 'filler' chapters.
  • Plot holes (just a few though - because this is not the kind of manga meant to be taken by its 'realism').
  • Absolutely, utterly crappy development that lead to the ending in the final chapters (but the actual ending itself was perfect).

TLDR:
This is a manga whose only problems is that it was way ahead of its time, has way too much loli fanservice, way too many silly perverted jokes and 'filler' plots - specially towards the ending. That aside - and more importantly - its actually very good at what is meant to be. 7/10
