Well after reading what there is of now it's no wonder people feel scammed. Aside from the chara designs, none of it match the "previous installement". All the cuteness was lost and now we've got a half backed mystery box character that comes off as a cold hearted manipulator. The resulting antics are trite and have been seen a million times over already.
Guy will eventually melt the other's heart and himself will get over the gender "barrier", and the drama will most likely come out from the "female" protagonist (presumed) complicated circumstances.

I love the original pre-serialization so much so when I saw it was being serialized I was like "Yes! more of the story!" so I started reading it. bro, the look on my face after I finished the first chapter. who is this crossdresser? because it ain't Inaho I tell you what. There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said. i'm just sad and disappointed. the story ain't the same, it isn't as cute, the characters don't really feel the same and worst of all, INAHO'S SISTER GOT CUT?!?! WHY?!? I don't like this serialization tbh, very disappointed.

Hrm, I was hoping for a cross dressing bl I could sink my teeth into. But after reading the first five chapters, the only thing I have on my mind is how bland it is. It's a bit of a shame since I like how the protagonist is a diehard romantic.
Apparently the pre-serialization version is pretty good, so I'll check that out instead

I remember some lesbians and gays told me how they dislike straight people that try to convert them.(Ohh the hypocrisy of this manga) On one side they claim they are born like that on the other they try to make other "fluid". I'm fairly certain you are certain by ages 15 and up to which gender you feel sexually and intimately attracted to.
It was problematic for gays once, since everyone was saying what is normal and what is shameful and despite being attracted to the same gender they "tried" to fall in love to opposite gender.

In any case sorry for commenting here i didn't notice "boys love" tag (though noticed crossdressing and grew suspicious. After first chapter decide to quit it and check the comments. Just wanted to see if someone saw a problem in this type of "setting" and you were the closest one.
I do understand that this is a gay fantasy, where you don't have to come with a heavy realisation that something might be completely out of your reach this is especially gruelling since the community is quite small and vast majority of people you like will never be that way with you. But i do hate fantasies to which same people hold hostility towards but are ok experiencing it themselves. I for one never dreamed of "converting" a lesbian, felt dirty and incorrect....

Well you bring an interresting point but I'll catch you up to speed first, alright? The "discourse" around this manga is that it is a serialised version a web manga, and while the original was wholesome and fun, where the crossdresser character was doing it to get close to and appeal to their love interrest, now in this "reboot" version pretty much everything changed aside from the charadesigns, most critically the crossdressing character now does it because they feel they have to, to give them an edge in whatever situation they're in. They're not a femboy or trans (or anything related) at heart, it's a purely strategic change (or so it feels). People that read the original feel betrayed and mourn the loss of their cute romance SOL. That's mostly why we complain here.
Now, I guess you didn't read the "original", and that's fine, hopefully you understand the context better.
On to your argument:
Yes, I agree that people are who they are and like who they like, and trying to change them to fit your preferences is wrong. The setting here, and with most "trap" mangas is that usually the POV character is unaware at first that the one they fell for is the same sex as them (not going into gender discussion here, it's a whole other point and japan in particular has a different way of handling the subject). The point of those mangas generally boils down to "it's fine to love who you love" even if they're the same sex/gender, and overcoming this "barrier" is usually a major point in the narrative, whether it's the protagonist dealing with his/her own feelings of rejection or a broader societal rejection issue.
I for one like them in part because they have character conflict "built in" without being forced or unnatural. It's easy to understand for the reader and the character dynamics that results are great when properly handled by the writter.

The point of those mangas are not to "convert" straight people via characters that look like girls but are actually boys (though it can happen, not gonna lie). That's why the term "trap" was gradually replaced, "femboy" being more prevalent nowadays, the idea being that "trap" had an implication of malicious intent, of deceit. Whereas the truth is that "traps" were just living their lifes expressing themselves how they saw fit and liked best, as is their right.
Now in the real world you're right that their "prospective market" is narrower than that of straight people, and that crossdresser and trans in general can be perceived to "intrude" in to the straight territory, but it's not them trying to expand their reach or "dragging" people into their own turf. It's just people trying to get laid, and everyone has their own preferences in terms of partners. Many non straight people will find themselves attracted to people that are straight, and the game is significantly more risky for them (hence why there are safe places where only those of one community will gather), whereas most straight people won't even question whether if someone they're into is even straight or not.
It's just that the "nothing ventured, nothing gained" mantra is doubly true for queer people, surrounded by straight people, assuming that they'll be rejected by the ones they find hot and still taking shots in the dark, despite the risks. Some of them get lucky. This is the point of those mangas and those settings. Yes it's a wish fullfillment fantasy, but more than that it's meant to convey that you can't help but to fall in love, sometimes it comes with more than you bargained for, and sometimes it doesn't really matter and they end up happy anyways.
Well, that was quite long, hopefully this all makes sense to you, and you find a read that suits you better next. Cheers.

Thank you for a good clarification.
Nope didn't read it, i rarely venture towards web-ln realm and there i would definitely see that it is boys love story and would skip it. Despite that i have a deep understanding about being disappointed when base structure of your story is being butchered by authors or publication companies (studious and etc.)

I might not understand the whole crossdressing thing nor i was pointing at that really (deception or anything like that, though i heard stories when some of those "traps" revealed it at quite risky moments for them (after kissing or getting naked)).

My point was more or less about sexuality not being as fluid as some content tries to portray it. Like it is quite clear that MC likes female physique and even feminine trait points. In the end if i presume correctly they will be a gay pair, one being ordinary the other dressing up sometimes.
I know for a fact that some straight men will engage sexually with "traps" if given enough secrecy and relationship staying just sexual.
But the very idea that someone can become a "life partner" with same gender despite being attracted to the opposite gives me the chills.(The chills are coming more from delusion not the idea of it, does it happen? Yeah likely, but those people initially were already attracted in my opinion).
As for opportunity (like trying to flirt with someone), don't see a problem with that, was confessed by a guy once, took it normally but was scared shittles a little bit, because dude decided to invite me to drink on fairly secluded place and when he confessed adrenaline pumped up a bit. But after that we had a talk and went each our ways.
I feel more anger towards those WHO KNOW that you don't swing that way be it from previous knowledge or after affirming at that moment and still trying to "convert". I know that some "straight" people do it (both men and women) but despite gay community being outraged by that i know for a fact that they also have aggressive "converters" among community.

In any case thank you for clarifying things, not my cup of tea and as i see serialization also made fans dislike it. I understand that it isn't an aggressive converter type manga a more like both of them coming to realization type one. I was just ticked about spreading knowledge of fluidity, due to it being potentially hazardous especially towards queer community.
Young lads and lasses who would keep these types of message at the back of their heads and trying to pursue actively something that was denied. (In general i see many mangas now have toxic messaging, especially romance genres, even more so with harem subgenre)

In my opinion it's all good as long as both parties remain civil even when in disagreement.
Sexuality can be fluid, I think, in some scarce individuals. I think people that try to "convert" others as you put it are partly confused because both sexuality and attraction exist on a spectrum, and some people's gender and/or strike zone can be broader or narrower than expected at first glance. I think it's in part why some people can be, let's say, insistent on their pursuit of a reluctant individual. An other part could be that some people, especially queer people, may feel desperate because their dating pool is narrower relative to straight people that are spoilt for choice in comparison (though it's very context dependant).

In the end I think it depends on the individual, and not on the community they belong to. After all for a long while now straights have continually tried to "correct" or "cure" the gay away, so it's not only the queer that are trying to expand. But they're a popular target nowadays, especially trans folks, and them fighting back for acceptance can sometimes have the opposite effect. The trans people being at the forefront now also plays out in the general view, and the sentiment that they're trying to "convert" more people to their side is also growing. So depending on where you're from you could be more or less prone to know of and be affected by the general discourse.

The fans of the original being down is more due to the shift in tone, and not the content itself, unlike with you, but to each their own, and you're a good sports about it. You're also right about some mangas having a problem glorifying toxic relationships and/or behavior, and from my reading experience it is actually prevalent in BL. It is an unfortunate trope (in my opinion) that does actually appeal to some people. I'm not kinkshaming, here, but to resonate with your points, I can only hope that those that enjoy those works don't emulate them in the real world. But I feel that those people that would would do it regardless of if they read those or not. They would read them because it appeal to them already and renforce their view, not the other way around.

In the end those issues are to be understood with the lens under which Japan treat those subjects, which is somewhat different than in the occident. Many of the tropes of the "traps" mangas for example don't necessarily trace back to transgenderism, and for a westerner reader it can be confusing to whom they're trying to appeal.
The generalisation is that japanese will prioritize societal harmony and homogeneity. In the context of queerness, that means that they're more supportive of trans people that conform to their apparent (chosen) gender than they would be to outright gay people. If you're a trans girl but you behave and look like a girl and seek a relationship with a guy, you're seen as conforming to the "norm" of being a girl, whereas being gay or lesbian is considered breaking the mold and standing out in comparison.
There's ton of history and cultural reasons, but it's the short of why "trap" culture is treated differently in japan and mostly originate from there pop culture wise. It's not that they're trying to convert people towards queerness, but more like it's easier in japan to draw gay stuff if the other guy look like a girl.
There's also the fact that for the most part a big portion of BL is aimed at women, and is supposed to be a fantasy, not realistic (with its own tropes and all), kinda like some dudes like to watch lesbian porn because they find it hot to see two girls together. The original market of gay mangas, or more like doujins, was not made with a male public in mind, it expanded afterwards.

In the end a good story is a good story, regardless of the form it takes. That's what matter the most to me, even though admitedly I enjoy queer targeted content.
