Just to have it on the thread here, some readers may not realize that this is a manga version of at least the first novel from a series of North American science fiction novels by James P. Hogan. Hogan was a pretty good and in my opinion moderately important science fiction writer; his quality was variable but his best were in my opinion classics. The series this is from ultimately spanned five books, but only the first three were tightly integrated. The trilogy was written together and had a fairly tightly connected plot, while the last two followed quite a bit later, were more tangentially related, and not IMO as good.
The very first book, "Inherit the Stars" I think is one of the best, perhaps the best, large scale hard science fiction mystery ever written (for short stories my favourite are some of Larry Niven's "Gil the Arm" stories). Some of the science is a bit dated now, but it's still fascinating. So it's pretty neat to see a manga version which is pretty faithful to the original.

@Purplelibraryguy, I agree with you in regards to Hogan and his stories. Inherit the Stars really whetted my appetite for "science fiction mysteries" of this nature where an anomaly or out of place object is discovered that results in the investigation of it by our novel's character into explaining how it came about. Reminds me a bit of a number of Jack McDevitt's stories especially "Ancient Shores" where a buried sailing yacht is found in the middle of a farm in the Dakotas. Its found to be thousands of years old and made out of unknown material.

As to Hogan and this story, I felt the first book really focused on the investigation of remains much much more than the Manga did. It practically made up the whole first novel. As a kid reading it, I ready liked how the as investigation proceeded, the mystery only got deeper and the conflicts in data seemed unresolvable as they scanned and tested the remains and its equipment. The discovery in real life of Otzi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96tzi) over a decade after the first novel was published and the subsequent scientific investigation done on his remains always makes me think of the journey of discovery by our fictional scientists with Charlie's corpse.

holy cow, this manga is good! Never expected that from this rather unfamiliar mangaka and title. Guess there are so many hidden gem manga around, waiting to be found.

I hope the TL team can complete it, I want to know what happened, I looked at the raws and it gave me a good idea but is not the same as a language I understand.
