On page 4 in the lower left panel Tanaka has a different art style. Its a reference to Detective Conan or Case Closed in some areas, in which a a teenage detective gets turned into a kid and is a long running and popular series.

The eyes style and pose is what does it.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand I hate it when best girls like Tanaka lose. But part of me thinks its OK cause it means those best girls are "free for taking", cause my brains forgets its a damn manga and thus the girls aren't real, and even if they were, they wouldn't even look my sorry ass direction.

Anyway Tanaka best, cutest girl. Dude is dense as fuck and I am to old to not get freaking annoyed by that trope. Makes most romances annoying to read which is double annoying cause with age I kinda need more of romance as a supplement to keep myself sane...
