I guess if I was an oppressed peasant, hungry, sick, stricken by all manner of maladies and reppression of social, mental and physical form, by the hands of the aristocracy and high clergy, I too would feel desire for revenge. That is very natural. Of course, they should take those guys and put them to work, killing them is a waste and very bloody. Better to convert them to workers than eliminate them individually.

And geez, Henri is almost as bad or worse than Jean-Baptist. Sometimes his desire for a more tender society, whilist being so harsh with his family is ... contradictory? Which isn't to say bad writing, we can be contraditory, but with how much he was gentle in youth it's just a sad tragedy.
