Wow. I feel like Sakamoto truly levelled up as an artist during this whole volume. Imagery is intense and beautiful, despite such a sad, dark content.
Let it be said here and now - I admire Andre's dedication to his master and half-brother, despite not being made for this business at all. He's trully his brother's keeper, if I may quote the bible (or Pulp Fiction, in my case) here. The support and love Nicolas did not get from his mother came from Andre instead and that boi did splendidly, finding the resources despite shortages and shouldering the brute tasks during Damiens' execution.
That being said, Charles-Henri really came into his own. He's moving the hurt and fear away, locking them in a box. Neither his body, nor his voice tremble. It's mortifying, but also impressive and professional.
