So, never? Oh well.

Yeah I've been rattling this idea in my brain about some kind of an anime girl customization game where you find "custom parts" (like literally anything from eye and hair styles to clothes and boob sizes and so on) that you can trade with other users (or buy from gachas with microtransactions if you want to be a whale) and then display your custom character on your mangadex profile or whatever.

I just don't really have a proper game mechanic in mind for it - the best I could think of was some kind of a deck-building roguelike using the parts as cards, like Slay the Spire, with MMO elements tacked on - nor do I have the time to implement it. At least not before v5 is done.
Slay the Spire is a great game, but I'd say the safest approach would just be taking art inspiration from pixel games like PokeMMO and social interaction inspiration from any well-known social MMO (like Second Life or Habbo). Roguelike gameplay (or any skill based gameplay) would be a good addition, and if done well, would let users have fun while earning whatever virtual currency is put in place. But I'd imagine that coding an entire gameplay portion, especially something as complex as StS, would be a pretty big job.

I really like the idea of being able to display your avatar on your MD profile though. I'd make sure to have the biggest available ingame tits if that were the case.

Kongregate tried to do a card game that had unlocks tied to activity on their site and it failed miserably.

Who knows, maybe sterven would challenge you in a virtual duel for that title.
I would without a doubt throw hands for that title.

@Richman
Someone is going to make a Boob sizes black market and i can't stop laughing at the thought.
As long as they have some type of discount for regulars or for buying in bulk im game.

@bigtiddyoneesan Yeah I was thinking more in terms of how exactly the users would get the rewards through gameplay, and some kind of dungeon running is what comes to my mind first at least. Combining that idea with the "parts" lead me to deck building - you'd have to choose between spending your items on your avatar or using them to progress in the game. I would want the rewards to be more or less in direct proportion to the amount of effort (or money) spent on the game, so just passively collecting stuff doesn't seem right to me. As far potential genres go, there's really not a wide array of choices. It should be playable on mobile, so it'd have to be more menu-based than anything.

@BestBoy Yeah, I wasn't planning on doing something like that. In my mind the game should "unlock" stuff on the site (namely cosmetic stuff like the avatar thing or trophies or whatever), not the other way around. The game would be standalone, but you could show off your rewards on the site.

Wayward Souls is a roguelike dungeon crawler that's both on PC and mobile. A game like this would probably be less work in terms of coding damage calculations (as well as balancing).

If the game were to be similar to Wayward Souls (as in, a pixel rogulike dungeon crawler), you could add 'Skill Cards' (or whatever you'd choose to call them) that could be taken on a run with you, with a limit as to how many you can take on one run to incentivize different loadouts. Said cards could be unlocked through gameplay, time/money spent, etc. Balancing your skills like that would lead to interesting and diverse gameplay and strategies, as well as achievements/challenges/cosmetic rewards for using specific loadouts.

Having a decent balance for rewards based on skill and time spent is important, though. There should always be some things that can only be unlocked through skill, time spent, and money spent, all individually.

Brb gonna go copyright everything I said here bc it's 100% original and I want money.

@bigtiddyoneesan I don't really think I'd want any kind of an action game like that, not only because a sprite resolution like that is way too small for the kinds of avatars I was thinking of, but also to avoid mostly reaction-based gameplay. Accessibility is a concern, both in terms of ease-of-use and getting people to play it, especially since this game would be more of a timewaster that most players would spend 20~30 minutes a day clicking on than like a serious videogame.

Trying to approach this like "what's the simplest gameloop that would still afford meaningful rewards and keep me interested".

Noted. In that case, Bit Heroes is another game that's on both PC and mobile. It's a dungeon crawler that you can autofarm (and is meant to be autofarmed).

You enter the dungeons with your team (of either 3 or 5, depending on the dungeon), and your team consists of your player character and 'familiars', which are just monsters/creatures that you face in dungeons and can add to your team occasionally. I'd say that if the familiar system were replicated, e.g. with 'anime girls' that you battle and occasionally add to your roster, it would add to the experience and give you something to collect (like Pokemon).

There are cosmetics, clans, and tiers of gear/dungeons/raids. Raids are done differently than one might expect, in that you have 5 people go into a raid (including yourself), but 4 of them are people of your choice that are on your friends list/in your clan, and those people don't have to be online, they just add to the damage. Raids are just dungeons, but with other players on your team rather than familiars.

Turn-based pvp is included too.

I can't really say the game's fun, though, as it's basically all just grinding with autofarming day after day. Nonetheless, some elements of it could be useful as reference when designing what you're thinking of.

if the focus of the game is social itneraction as a social hub. i think everything else is just an added asepct.
i think we should not be distracted too much with having a main gameplay but make those gameplays like minigames.
if we stray from being a social hub game into a some kind of a MMO, it turns from an option to a progression.

we need to have it focus on being people talking about their favorite trash isekai in isekai world and having the prettiest big-titty avatar.

Well my point is more that I'd rather not have a social interaction game, that's expensive.

if i win lotery i will give fundmoney. u-u
imagine if we make this game, and mangadex become an official translator website from popularity.
and we pay those fantranslators they become regulars. we now buying rights for mangoes. and the currency ingame is like a blockchain.

we have alot of money because cosmetic gacha and wife gacha.
then we have merch for their waifus they can get from gacha. i think its a super win.
then when we're a rich company, we invest on elonmusk, we have a title for a land in mars where we can make our colony.
by that time, we can push all techological advancement into what we choose. and we choose long lifespan and genetic engineering.
we can now choose whatever we wanna looklike, but it has a huge cooldown or high cost. also documented. so no one can try to imitate anyone. we have a scanner so that no one can look too alike with eachother within the colony. we also have the ability to have catgirls because of the advancement that we choose.
