Ah the innocent age of the internet, when a virus was the true enemy, and not the hoard of online lurkers looking to be offended at something.

@MesaOracle There were that kind of guys back then too, but as the communities were smaller it was easier to shut up those guys without even the mods having to appear. But i also think you are partly right in that people take things more to heart with each passing decade so trolls and flamers are more successfull.

Nowadays virus are not so important to webmasters, but DDOS attacks and some virus are still a threat and end up closing websites by making the webbmaster tired of having to deal with neverending cases.

@Me I don't think it really HAD a name back then. If anything it would have just been a version number or some acronym (Like DOS)

@Xitel OSes always had some kinda name. Even if it was just "Monitor"

I'm also curious for educational purposes. Thought Morris only worked on Unix systems, and that was outta AT&T.

@Me

OS/2 would be best as it was IBMs final attempt at a mainstream OS after it foolishly ceded the market to Microsoft in what turned out to be one of the worst/best business deals in history. Depending on which side of the table you were on.

Also makes it easier story wise for her to have beef with Microsoft.

Hate pulling geek shit out on this, but WRONG... "The main body of the Morris worm could only infect DEC VAX machines running 4BSD, and Sun-3 systems." ...sooooo, no, PC(read Microsoft) DOS wouldn't have been hit by the main infection.

Can someone explain the plot with this "IBM" & "Morris Worm" thing?
I wasn't around in this era of the internet & i'm not a computer geek.
