My regular hairdresser and I have an unspoken deal. We exchange greetings, she asks what I've been up to lately (I imagine she doesn't care, but it's the polite thing to do), I ask about her children (don't care, but it's the polite thing to do) and then the rest of the haircut is done in silence.
