Not your fault you got those points off my previous comment. When I re-read it again today, I'm asking myself: "Did I really write this?"
I should have given it more time to flesh out my previous comment (fixing grammatical errors and using the correct words), even the TLDR is wrong. It should had been about potentially/can influence into tribalism.

I don't believe all liberals are emotional and idealistic, and I do believe there are liberals who are rational, is because they have made a decision within a reasonable ground.
However, I do believe when someone who hasn't been interacting with politics or cared much in the depth of it initially, would naively end up idealistic and potentially emotional. What affects the persons' emotion isn't because of a rating system, (as I see it, it only lays a piece of a foundation of an ideal), but what's further down the line can affect the person (such as media, news, acquaintances, celebrities, politicians) into tribalism.
I do believe there are liberals who made their decision on reasonable grounds as well, like promoting free religion or hiddenly bringing religious value into politics in a situation where there isn't a religious tension between them.
What I don't like is when someone who hasn't given thought into a situation, and decided based on the ideal, which then can lead to a dire consequence. Such as donating/giving away the limited amount of money to help people in need, but the very same money could have been used to solve the root of the problem. Or blocking a billion bill on using them in aiding immigrants, claiming it's should not be given to an organisation which hosts these immigrants in camps, instead of letting the immigrants freely into a country. Seriously, tens of thousands of people, they should be controlled and allocated instead of letting freely roam uncontrollably into a country, in which they might not have a place to settle down or coming into conflict with the natives.

I do think tribalism is potentially dangerous in a community due to polarising, but for polarising to happen, you need something which causes something hateful. Which a rating system by itself isn't enough to cause someone to hate on others. But it's a contributing factor, and as mentioned, it isn't likely it'll happen here due what's here, which is unrelated to political beliefs.
A Rating system by itself is unrelated to political beliefs, but when you do drag a political topic to talk about it, and includes a rating system. They will then be related due to the connection between, the person who started the talk.

Personally, I would say it's no problem having a rating system here on MangaDex, as long as there isn't a political section of a forum. I've seen enough of the echo chambers on other platforms which are being used to talk about politics, and some particular politician is there just due to the ethical popularity rather than being able to solve a problem.

TLDR: What I'm against is the tribalism (when it reaches to a bad point), not the rating system. What I disagreed on is a claim of rating system being unrelated to political belief (not by itself, but through an intermediate, when someone is bringing their political belief into the vote or using it for political popularity), and if it's potential in this very platform.

Edit: I can be wrong with this, I'm too tired of watching tribalism that I may have been too obsessive about any relation to it.
