very good romcom. The big problem is the unsatisfying end. you get ecchi by the truckload during the whole manga, but in the end, you never get the 2 protagonists to 'connect' with each other. there are also side storys that get 'resolved' like if they were a second thought.

It is bad because the reste of the story is amazing! And it is well worth the read. But you will definitly get this feeling that plagues japanese creations: of an underachived ending to a great story.

at least, you can rnjoy the ride until you get there.

I personally loved this manga—except for the end. As some people have mentioned, if you're looking for ecchi, it's there, just not at the end. MORE IMPORTANTLY, at the end, the story feels rushed/broken. The whole plot is set up well through hundreds of chapters (albeit with SO MANY common tropes in terms of the romance, it can be kind of painful). The last couple of chapters/last volume or two just aren't it for me. Yes, everything in the end is resolved well, but it feels like the story ends when the two MC's admit their feelings—the author tried to have a lot happen after, and it really was, for lack of a better word, crap. Literal crap. I would suggest stopping reading when the two MC's are finally together: anything beyond that, and you'll be dissatisfied, unless you're like 11 or something. As well, there is NO side character development. No other relationships, no character backstories, nothing. Once again—if you're in it for action, this isn't the right manga for you. Its 140 chapters of painstakingly slow MC development (can you even call it development?). Those who liked the last couple of chapters most honestly shouldn't be reading this manga, tbh.

It's kinda depressing that this has so few reads. 140+ chapters in the flagship Shonen Jump and now it seems forgotten 20 years later. This is way better than average as far as the art and romantic story goes. Can definitely sympathize with MC and his struggles, even if he's afflicted with near-Kazuya levels of self-confidence issues. Unlike that RAG trash, here it's much more a case of worrying alongside MC than being annoyed and disgusted with him.

The series definitely leaves me with a strong and lasting impression. Tons of great ecchi, some gratuitous and some with great story angles. I found it briefly veered into drama/sad territory for a few chapters in the penultimate arc, but overall it was still great with a happy end. Along the way it definitely has that Kei Sasuga vibe with the realism and drama, being frequently exasperated at just what can go wrong next. The ending could have been a bit more resoundingly uplifting but it's not like it was bad or diminished the series. Not a great ending but a good ending, which is better than average for these long series. The commentary about the dream state at the end was also pretty satisfying.

Anyway, I claim Nami, her titties, and her willingness to bare them proudly! :coffee::hearts:

Ikr I think 100+ chapters for a manga were an achievement back in the days. I thought this was a 10/10 and it made a strong and lasting impression on me too, so much so that I wanted to create a full-on anime adaptation, OVA only has a few episodes. 7.94/10 seems to be a bit too low, and was really surprise about it
