yeah it's quite a turn, i half expected his 'sister' to turn yandere and obsessively try to find him or so (tho i wonder how he would explain the harem bc even if he was stuck i guess it'd be awkward to be like "yeah i would've tried coming back sooner but i was busy getting laid"), weird that it was a plot point to begin with, other than the tension/drama, versus "i turned 18 (or 15-16 depending on the story" and left my hometown or so

Got transported to another "world" and was like, I have to find a way back home. Then after the three year time skip: Who should I do today~ uh I mean, I need to keep working at finding a way back home...after the fivesome!
Now after getting to the surface: Finally, I just need to head East to get home..., but there may be hot Amazons in my area... it probably wouldn't hurt to do a little sightseeing, before heading East.

tl;dr It isn't really out of character, when you look back at his other decisions and reactions to things.
