I totally forgot but did MC never get into any life threatening situations? All that time and he's still has that pacifist, no-killing mentality and I don't think him being a teenager (how old is both of them anyway?) is a good enough reason.

So far the majority of life threatening situations he's been in has involved monsters. The few times that were from humans have all been resolved without killing them.

In fact, I think the only permanent wound he's given anyone is when he sliced off Cassim's arm with a wind blade.
