It's weird that only two of each group reaches them consistently. It's like it's harder for people to survive if there are more of them. It'd be more expected to have more where everyone survives, or everyone wipes.

And then, after the meeting, we're once again reminded that this is a cooking manga.

There are some giant red flags these last two chapters. I’m still rooting for them using the travelers as batteries to power their magic city

I don't think that mere adventurers would do great as mana batteries... If anything, I'd be suspect of their "meat" supplies. Or wholly suspect of their claim of "two out of five" rule ("we killed off 3 of them, so the rest knows to behave").
