No he upped his int stat, he's just coming from a place (mentally) where he can't even grasp the idea of someone having romantic feelings for him. He has only had friends for a few months, even that is something very new and unusual to him. Earlier chapters have things like his parents saying it is a waste of water to wash his clothes. If you're treated like that your entire life, with only one person being nice to you, you're not going to notice when girls start going gaga over you.

Oh yeah, I know it and understand where his stupidity coming from. MC basically totally mentally and emotionally broken person who got physically hit in the head for many times that got inflicted brain damage.

It's just . . . on 7th LN volume I started to feel sick by stupidity of situations. Not only MCs actions and thought but also world about him. He does inhumane super power things and claim that it is just normal and world around accept like 'yeah, nothing out of ordinary'. Just feeling that Earth consist of brainless dolls that ready to accept everything superhuman-like MC does.
So that's why kinda dropped reading on 7th volume to chill out. Because started to feel rage and frustration from unreasonableness about MCs actions and reactions on them.

The anime fell apart. It's like the studio ran out of time and money, so they just rushed a bunch of crap. I can't even remember the number of times they didn't animate the person talking, or would just have dialog over a nature shot without any people at all.

I watch some anime I've already seen in the manga form before, but going through this particular story just once is already more than enough. This is 100% distilled trash isekai.

If you're contemplating watching the anime, just do it. The stuff people are saying here about it is true but in a "haha yeah it do be liek that tho" way among people who've already seen it. It's not that bad. And it does look really pretty.

Edit: Also I the anime was way more ecchi than I remembered the manga chapters being, maybe I should reread?
