I've only read 1 manga where the MC could repair weapons with magic and was considered worthless by the group. The fact he's talking about this "Kick out the support" trope makes me feel like this line was targeted.

Definitely targeted. The idea of the support character getting kicked out was cool initially, but the market is so oversaturated at this point. I wish authors stopped trying to use current trends and gimmicks to get their story popular and just focused on better story and characters

But this series will be interesting because this is a very real thing a lot of big streamers have to deal with, fans becoming completely obsessed with them to an utterly creepy/dangerous degree.
