Why would it piss you off? Literally one of the best writing decisions the author could make if they don't fumble the bag since it'll force Erin (elf girl) to confront her vague idea of "revenge" against a whole kingdom full of people who's probably not even related to their community wipe.

If it was just some random girl who just so happens to live there, Erin can just handwave and generalize the higher ups of the kingdom to be bad, but if it was the princess herself... Well, she'll have to think a little deeper, no?
