So especially with the latter two translations it becomes clear that here it is meant that tend to stay among themselves. Out of the translations “restrictive“ might be a better translation here.

Problem is, reclusive and exclusive are 2 different words in japanese and are written differently from one another.

星 can mean either depending on the context. You don't have to take my word for it, you can search something like "hoshi/星 meaning star or planet" and you'll find several posts discussing it.
