Is the world tree some kind of parasite? The way it was described, it sounds like that. Also, this series is a master class at dragging something on and on for far too long. Just get to the brat, spank her, and go back to the orphanage already!
Right... It's like... The same principle as cordyceps.

It's a wired internet router
the high elves are the wires that connect the terminals(people) to the network(the planet brain)

EDICT gives the following translation:
排他的 【はいたてき】 (adj-na) exclusive; exclusionary; restrictive; clannish

So especially with the latter two translations it becomes clear that here it is meant that tend to stay among themselves. Out of the translations “restrictive“ might be a better translation here.
Problem is, reclusive and exclusive are 2 different words in japanese and are written differently from one another.1740949036745.png

@andyarc1995 "star" -> "planet", in this context.
That's the most glaring issue that needs to be fixed for it to make sense and it would be appreciated if you could correct it.

They are using the word star here (星) and not planet (惑星) while they share the same kanji, they are written different, dunno why they are doing it like that because it makes no sense.

Wouldn't the best english translation be "unique" ? In the context of both being singularly special, and ....singularly Spesjul.

As in : "they are ...unique.. beings. No, don't ask.. You'll find out.. "
