排他的 【はいたてき】 (adj-na) exclusive; exclusionary; restrictive; clannish

So especially with the latter two translations it becomes clear that here it is meant that tend to stay among themselves. Out of the translations “restrictive“ might be a better translation here.

Problem is, reclusive and exclusive are 2 different words in japanese and are written differently from one another.

Wouldn't the best english translation be "unique" ? In the context of both being singularly special, and ....singularly Spesjul.

星 can mean either depending on the context. You don't have to take my word for it, you can search something like "hoshi/星 meaning star or planet" and you'll find several posts discussing it.

It's not the word "star", it's the generic word for "celestial body" (eg planets, stars, comets, black hole) that doesn't exists in English and always gets defaulted to "star" by MTLs or translators unfamiliar with the word. It's been an issue in jp-to-en translation since forever.

As an example, Junji Ito's 地獄星レミナ is TLd as "HellSTAR Remina" despite Remina being a planet.
In other languages that actually have that word, eg "astre" in French, we get the generic word instead and deduce from context if it's planet, star, or something else. Eg, "Rémina, la planète de l'enfer" (hell PLANET) is the french title.
