I agree. I've owned snakes and several other reptiles and even when you clean their tank every week it ends up stinking. I also grew up in Florida in an area with several alligator farms as well as Homassassa Springs wildlife park (which has lots of nasty smelling habitats for alligators and hippos). So I agree on how nasty the water would normally be.

But we were also told that they're 'maintaned' by magic. So cleaning is probably part of that.

Yeah lol Magics are so convenient, it's just that I can still feel the dirtiness despite it looking so clean in the drawings, you know what I mean? haha Actually even relatively clean river/lake water would still let me feel it's unhygienic and full of microorganisms, bacterias, parasites, insect eggs, fish faeces and rotten fish corpses etc...
