@cor3zone Forcing the women (or anyone) to be slaves would still be perfectly valid writing (for an MC with such inclinations), but making the other characters want to be slaves is nothing but absurdly immature wish fulfillment, going even beyond what you'd expect from a regular gary stu self-insert main character. In my opinion it only shows even more shamelessness: "I didn't want to have slaves following me, they just wanted to be my slaves and I couldn't refuse them!" The psychology behind that is knowing reducing others to slavery is morally wrong and thus trying to find a way to make it more legit without a burden of guilt.

If the author wants to imagine possessing a harem of bishoujo slaves in his fiction, he should be a man about it and write it as it is. Compare this to the authors who have the guts to make the MC slay incorrigible enemies instead of sparing them time after time, only to have them backstab the MC/MC's allies time after time. Nobody wants to read about that shit, and typically the decisive MCs are universally praised.

@Kaarme I agree it's bad writing, but my point is within the confines of the author's writing MC doesn't want slaves. Because of the magic 'contract' thingamajig, he can't just release them unless the already agreed upon conditions are met. For example, Cecyl has to work off her own price before being freed. She keeps inflating it on her own (I think it went from 200k to 2mil, then even higher).

The slave trope is shit, and the writing is shoddy. But that doesn't excuse you making things up about the MC. Please criticize, but at least get the facts right.

While he's trying real hard to avoid the harem end, we know the author won't let him off the hook. Hell, the sword can be considered to be another member of the harem now...and he's still being as thick headed as a regular japanese protagonist.

@ApolloX1209 It is pretty clear how it works. Skills are composed of several keywords that generate the effect, and he can change those words (the ones within brackets on the description) at will by "copy and pasting" them from other skills. So by rearranging those words he can create new and/or bizarre skills with powerful effects.

Too many of these OP isekai stories are either author self-inserts or exceedingly calculated literature for a very specific audience to self-insert into (something Harry Potter perfected). I don't feel like giving them as much benefit of the doubt as you do. The MC might as well be faceless like a hentai protagonist. Typically I always treat the characters and plots in fiction like they were their own real universe, not breaking the fourth wall to explain things, but some things are just too thick for me to ignore. It's an especially jarring problem for me because I like isekai as a genre so much. The willing slaves and cheap Japanese nationalism are the two things rubbing me the wrong way.

I'm not going to argue about this with you, though, because I do understand what you are saying. This is just my personal problem.

@Kaarme That's fair enough, but then maybe you shouldn't comment directly on what any MC thinks or wants. Try being more general; instead of "The MC is a huge pervert as it is for wanting to build a slave harem." maybe 'MC sucks for having slaves.' Makes for a better argument if no facts are mistaken. 😊

@madx1 It doesn't really matter which one of them has it. Memory wipe is just as powerful and dangerous as Mind Control. Again, since skills can be swapped in this world he would have been better of swapping that skill out entirely. Changing the owner doesn't make it safe and legitimate now.

Then again since Aine has it, we can now write doujin of her having her way with Nagi every night and wiping his memory of the events the next day so he never has to know.

@Robbini Dominating slimes (monsters) sounds next to useless, whereas controlling liquids is quite overpowered. A world of difference, really. Unless it's a world with some stupidly powerful rainbow slimes around every corner. If not, then it'd be of very limited use. As opposed to that, controlling liquids would allow killing most living things instantly. I guess it will be controlling slimes and the sword will thus be rendered into nothing but useless, smartass extra baggage.

Honestly I’d enjoy this manga so much more if these skill changing/soft-hentai scenes weren’t so... weird. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind ecchi, or even smut, I just feel like the skill splitting scenes are way more awkward than they should be. I don’t even hate the concept that much, but I think they go on a bit too long, and feel a bit too slimy for my tastes. I don’t know quite how to describe it, it doesn’t really make sense either since my “tastes” are diverse and I really don’t mind non-vanilla stuff.
